Q&A With Deep Summer Photographer Scott Markewitz
The Crankworx Deep Summer Photo Challenge returned to Whistler for it’s sixth season and, despite threatening rain showers before the event, the show was as good as ever. And by “good” I mean “awesome!”
Back competing for his second year was photography veteran Scott Markewitz, a long-time action sports photographer whose photos have graced the cover of more than 400 international magazines. Formally a professional skier, Markewitz is based out of Utah where he raises a family, lives, works, and enjoys life.
I met Scott last year while he was shooting the Crankworx Speed & Style event and I was so impressed by his sincerity and down-to-earthness. He walks with no pretense and is simply genuine, humble about what he does, and very gifted at it.
I predicted Scott for the 2013 Deep Summer win and, though it didn’t happen, his show was amazing and I think if Deep Summer did a People’s Choice award Markewitz would have gotten the nod. Anyhow, I caught up with Scott for coffee the morning after Deep Summer to talk about the show, Whistler, and life. Here’s what he had to say. Read more
