T.A.G. – B-Grade News & Prior Art Contest
It might not fit the theme, but I like it a lot. I think you might too? Yea Mal.
First let me start by saying how sad I am that one of Whistler’s great shows/party/event will not be happening this year. It is now official and I am releasing the news to you. There will be no B-Grade Horror Fest this year!! That’s right and very sad. For whatever reason and there could be many…they, the boys, have decided not to have one for 2012. Very sad indeed.
For me it is two-fold sad as I had the most insane photo idea all dialed in. I had my model and the shot all ready to go in the next couple of weeks, alas. Whatever the reason let’s wish the gang well for next year and that it will be the best B-Grade ever!!! Good luck boys!!!
So, now it is the question, since there will be no B-Grade this year, what do we do for a Halloween festivity? Who has any plans? Is there someone out there that has a brilliant idea, venue, party that they are not telling me? Let me know asap as maybe we can work together and pull off a second best type party. To be honest, the wheels are already in the works for a party/ art show. I have inquired about the best space in Whistler for a show but it is a matter of time. It might not happen but, as with all things in life, you just gotta try. So, wish me well, for if this location comes through it will definitely be one of the best venues ever!!!
Someone, [who's name I won't mention] recently wrote that this upcoming contest was the most Whistler-est contest ever! I don’t agree, but it is a good one and I will also be taking part. I am talking about Prior’s top sheet contest and show. It is very simple. Submit whatever style art medium in a format of 34cm by 190cm and boom. Once submitted they, Prior and the Whistler Arts Council, will have a show/contest at Millenium Place for the early part of October. Then, on October 21st they will pick the winner which will be done by voting and tabulating the ballots to pick the winner who will receive money and a pair of skis or a board with their graphic. Sounds good to me!
The winner will be the one that will most likely depict Whistler and it’s lifestyle, ideally. In my case it will be a bit more edgy than that, at least one submission. The other will be more sedate, that way I have more of a chance winning as opposed to just getting a few, wow, she’s hot comments. I forgot to mention that each individual is limited to a submission of two [2] pieces. That’s it, no more and no less, unless you know your piece is the bomb and you only have time to do one. After all the entries are in a jury will select 15-20 entrants that they feel worthy for display and hang them for the month of October!! Then, you the people will decide on the image that best represents Whistler and the community. Good luck to all and for info, please check their site for all the details. http://www.priorsnow.com/topsheet-exhibition
