Art with Arne: Don’t Eat the Shrimp!
Hello art fans, it’s Arne with a bit of a recap.
Did you make it out to Stephen Vogler’s big night? The 1st Annual Flag Stop Theatre and Arts Festival. If you didn’t, well, let me tell you about the night and a bit of the festivities so that you can put it on the calendar for next year. Right off the bat I will say that it was one of the neatest and awesome shows that I have been a part of. The weather was divine and the crowd was roaring, well sorta.
Let me start out with the beginning of the eve. There was music, the Cafe Book Shop and the Art show during the day, then, at around 6pm the liquor was starting to flow, it was a licensed event. I got there shortly after 7pm as I had to work prior. Agnes, the play started around 8ish, which was fun and historical, it even had a big splash as it’s finale which was awesome. That was followed by Aude Ray’s dance/song routine, Suitcase of Dreams which finished just as the sun was setting and just before the lantern boat procession was to take place. Then the swing band kicked in for the remainder of the eve. All and all it was a brilliant night for the arts and the lucky few that made it to the other side of the lake.
I would like to personally commend Stephen for this wonderful night filled with so much art and fun that I can’t remember another one like it!! I look forward to the 2 annual show with as much excitement as I had for this inaugural year! Way to go Steve!!! A++++++++
I just wanted to share a little scenario with everyone so there trip is not cut short like mine was recently. This is not so much art as it is a appreciation of said art and mother nature. Earlier this week my wife, Momo and a good friend of said wife went camping on the island. For the first 3 days it was paradise! We were very lucky to get some really great spots in Campbell River, Comox and Nanaimo. I was snappin away like a tourist at the Olympics! I always had 2 cameras with me and was just wondering around snapping everything that I found interesting. Though my luck was about to change I did not notice or even care. You see I enjoy seafood as much as the next person and nearly as much as my wifey! So when we heard of a super local fish monger we thought that we gotta give them a try. Again, this is not a dis as much as it is warning when you go camping and are living out of coolers for multi days. Be careful!!! What we think happened was that the frozen little crustaceans that we bought were not bad just our storage was. So, that being said I am sitting here writing this entry with the worst case of food poisoning I have ever had!! Silly Arne. Moral of the story, enjoy mother nature as much as possible just make sure the prawns don’t go off in your cooler.
until next week,
take care and happy snappin
