T.A.G. – The Weekly From A Confessed Artist
My good friend Mal lying around Function!!
Hello fans of art!
The weekly from a confessed artist. Sort of.
Hi everyone and welcome to a special weekly from me. It seems, according to me that I am at a bit of a milestone today. Numbers have it that I started sending my editor filings over year ago. That means after some simple calculations that not only have I written a few posts but….. that I have scribed my first novel! What? Well, of sorts. If you put all my posts together and added them up it will seem that I have written almost 30,000 words since I started last year!! Wow. It may not seem like much in the context of a weekly blog but, in relation to a year it turns out to be a fair chunk of words. Of course it’s not a book, just in the sheer number of words. I thought that was a pretty good accomplishment for someone who is not a writer.
That’s what I wanted to chat about a little today. I would first like to thank Michelle Leroux for letting me host the position of art editor for Whistler Is Awesome, then everyone else for putting up with my somewhat legible writing style. You see, I am not really a writer! Yup, all this time you thought I was. Well, I am just a wannabe bloggist that enjoys slapping keys on my lab top. A little disclaimer and background about my writing history. First off, I am not a writer! I have always enjoyed writing creatively and as a hobbyist. Though, I have received no formal training other than high school and no related college courses. I really enjoy journal writing and have done so for years. That is what I believe blogging has turned in to.
I have fortunately had a fair amount of my writing published elsewhere. Back in the day when I was a DJ I would write reviews for a international music magazine. Then the occasional story for local papers that would be accompanied by my photos. Finally I got the gig of writing the blog for Whistler is Awesome. It is a wonderful feeling to know that I am sharing what I love with people from around the world. What easier way than by slicing up two of my most enjoyed past times in to one blog? Indeed Whistler is Awesome and I thank you for putting up with my scribbles.
And now for the art news.
Another Wow! Stephen Vogler is the man!! His Point series has a great twist coming up on August 11. He created the 1st Annual Flag Stop Theatre and Arts Festival! There will be free afternoon activities, children’s music, theatre performances. As well as The Tracks art show reception, (which I have a couple of super cool pieces in) A Debut performance of Agnes, and Suitcase of Dreams on the floating stage. Lantern boats, live swing jazz in the lodge and much more! Ohhh, did I mention it was a licensed event? Yup. Tickets and info at www.thepointartists.com
Thank you again and let’s enjoy what we have!!!
