CALLING ALL EMERGING BACKCOUNTRY PHOTOGRAPHERS FOR THE 7TH ANNUAL OUT OF BOUNDS: TALES FROM THE BACKCOUNTRY

Whistler Arts Council’s annual sport action photography contest Out Of Bounds: Tales from the Backcountry is calling for entries from all Sea-to-Sky and B.C. emerging photographers to submit their images of skiing and snowboarding in B.C.’s backcountry by Wednesday, August 1, 2012.

The seventh annual photo contest and exhibit takes place from October 1 – 31, 2012 at Scotia Creek Gallery at Millennium Place with the launch party slated for Thursday, October 11, 2012.  The exhibit showcases backcountry sport photographers, promotes B.C.’s mountain culture and its athletes. Viewed by more than 5,000 mountain culture junkies, the exhibit coincides with numerous ski and snowboard premiers at Millennium Place and launch of the season.

Eligible entrants include emerging photographers living and shooting in B.C. Images will be judged based on artistic merit, composition, technical skill and adherence to focus on the theme – Out of Bounds: Tales from the Backcountry (no photos taken from chairlifts). Whistler Arts Council will award two photographers, one in the People’s Choice Award – public vote – and second in Best of Show – juried vote, consisting of industry professionals including: Todd Lawson, Blake Jorgenson, Les Anthony and Eric Berger.
