It’s a pARTy!

Hello fans of the Whistler art!!

What beautiful days we have been having in our gorgeous mountain town.  The weather is perfect and the scenery divine, the adventures limitless and the camaraderie untold so grab your towels and sunscreen and hit the beach or whatever art events are going on at the time.

It seems with the warm weather anything outside is the preferred place to be.  If your not going to the top of the mountain or the base of a local lake then maybe a nice air conditioned gallery might be up your alley?  That’s great too because Whistler has many to boot.  I love native art and find we have some great work showing at some of the local galleries as well as the Squamish Lilwat Cultural Center.  Located near the base of Blackcomb Mountain on 4584 Blackcomb Way.  I find it a wonderful way to enjoy the cultural history of our local brothers and sisters and their fantastic art styles.  A little FYI bird tells me that on Monday’s entrance to the Squamish Lilwat Cultural Center is buy donation. Their gift shop is awesome and I always get some Bannock when I am there, yummm.

Did I mention the Weirdo’s has an upcoming art show during the Function Block pARTy?

Yeah, you know I did last week, but, it is a week away and we have some new news.  It is official in a unofficial way, Andrea Mueller is a Weirdo!
If nothing else but temporarily. Hahaha.  Actually, she is very weird so we/she invited herself to be a part of the show for the night.  I do not know what she will be displaying other than I know it will be weird in a good way.  Also, Whistler’s favorite little Uni-yarn-bomber Hayley  Wirsching will be bombing something outside the space, exciting!!!  Did I mention that Cole and Magda will be performing Capoeira outside the space?  C.A.F.   It will be a great night!

There will be many other artist painting live on Millar Creek Road that night as well:  Pepe will paint  live outside our space, Taka Sudo will no doubt be painting live outside his Artwalk venue at the Whistler Brewery, and I also heard my good friend Stan Matwychuck will be painting somewhere down there but not sure exactly.  Look forward to see what he is up to and what his style is now, that kid is always progressing.  Again, the date is next Thursday, July 26th, 6:30pm till 9pm.  Hope to see you in Function for a night of fun.

This photo is not from Whistler, thankfully! Keep your gum in the garbage, please! This photo is from a upcoming book and show I am working on about the plight of human’s and gum. The photo is called, “Gum-Won, Human’s-?

In other arty news, Stephen Vogler just announced his next Eclectic 5 lineup!!  Spoken word and music duo Jillian Christmas and Chelsea D. E. Johnson will perform, sing and speak during the eve.  The duo is from East Van and they are promoting their Hard Love Tour.  The lineup for the evening also consists of Megan “Lozen” Mullaly with D.J Rob Banks and, as always, the night will be MC’d by the man himself, SSSSSStephen Vogler and his uncompromising cohort, Rajan Das.  So remember, Friday night, July 27th, Dusty’s Creekside, 9pm, and… cover is by donation!!!  See you there!

I hope everyone has a fantastic week and you have a chance to get outside and enjoy some of this weather!

Cheers and don’t forget the safety sauce, sunscreen.
