Art News with Arne
Well hello Artinados!!!
This is an exciting week in the arts. Ohhh, and the sun decided to grace us with her presence, exciting and awesome.
The first piece of art news with a bit of celebratory note, the Weirdo’s confirmed a venue for the Function Block Party!!!! Yeahhhhh. It wasn’t nailed down before last night. The Weirdo’s will be hosting their show at the old Napa Auto Parts store on July 26th between 6:30pm and 9:00pm.
The Weirdo’s is a loose group of artists made up of Dave Petko, The Incredible Amoeba, Randy Randoid and yours truly. This will be our second year hosting a venue during the Function Block Party. Yes.
Even more exciting news about the space is that Cole Manson, Sensei and cofounder Magda Regdos RMT will be taking it over and transforming it in to the Awesome Arts Academy! Wow, I love it already. The space will be the home to all types of martial arts, brazilian jujitsu, tai chi, group fitness, belly fit or zumba, a couple types of yoga, treatment rooms, massage therapy (RMT), acupuncture, hypnotherapy, children’s martial arts, kishindo, capoeira, and a Karaoke night hosted by Trevor Dunn! They will also have many arts hosted in the venue, acting classes, dance classes and they will be re-hosting Making Monday’s where people will be involved with clothing design, arts and crafts. Ohh, and there will be art a hanging in there them walls!!!
Awesome Arts Academy classes will begin on September 4th and the Grand Opening is slated to be September 8th. Awesome and welcome! I will keep everyone up to date with more info and details, until then, check them out on the web at www.whistlermartialartscentre.ca
Stephen Vogler will be hosting the opening of their Saturdays at the Point with an art show themed, Tracks. The Point is the beautiful and historic old Hostel on Alta Lake Road. They have an extensive list of workshops, events, seminars and even a symposium. Any info can be garnered from their web page, http://www.thepointartists.com/. Stay tuned as I frequently mention events and happenings at the Point and other Stephen Vogler items.
Another bit of super cool art event info is Kris Kupskay’s Paint + Shoot idea. He plans to link a photographer, skateboarder and a graffiti artist in one group in the idea of producing a piece of art, then have the photographer shoot the skateboarder in the frame of the freshly painted piece. Cool. The event will take place this Sunday at the skatepark starting at 9am and the skating/shooting will start at 1pm. Later in the evening they will be posting their results on F/B for you to choose. Good luck gang.
Wheew, its gonna be a arty week.
Remember, keep it arty .
ciao
